We tend to think that it is by merit that we will be saved and spend eternity in Heaven. Even Christians, if they are not careful, start counting their own works as righteous before God. The truth is that we all fall short and can not make it on our own. Israel deserved the same punishment as the Egyptians. But God provided a way for them to be counted as righteous and thereby pass over them on them night of judgment. That way was the Blood of the Lamb. All of this points forward to Christ as the true Passover Lamb of the world. We are saved by His blood and His Blood alone!
